About Incense
The fragrance from incense can immediately change the mood in a room, cause us to take a deep breath and relax, and remind us of another time, another occasion just from the association that is triggered from experiencing a similar scent. In just a matter of seconds, we can create a different atmosphere, or impose an associative set of ritual that we have created ourselves over time. Reading every morning in the same room while burning a lovely Japanese incense is one example. Using Tibetan incense or perhaps an Indian herbal incense each day with a yoga practice or meditation is another. Most of the time, these practices are done at the same time each day and in the same place. Enjoying one of the many Indian incenses while working and relaxing throughout the day can make many ordinary activities seem special. However we enjoy our incense, we can make our use of it enhance our joy of living, and give the subtle extra comfort and pleasure to all those around us. Incense from the various countries are profoundly different from one another. If you discover you really love incense, you might find that you like to burn different incenses for different purposes, and maybe in varying sized rooms, depending on intensity of scent. We want to share a very important secret about incense with you, a secret that can save you from a little heartache and much searching. Incense fragrances, no matter where they originate, can be created and the availability last for decades without change. But often, incense is discontinued by the maker for one reason or another, and then those that love the incense are suddenly without a supply of it and go scrambling to find it. Or the incense is not at all discontinued, but the distribution channels for it have disappeared. Other times, we get in a new incense shipment and an old fragrance has suddenly changed. In short, we have people emailing us almost every day, looking for a beloved incense they can no longer find. We learned many years ago to buy up our favorite incense. With proper storage and moderate temperature and humidity, you can keep your own favorites for many years. If you do not learn to do this, you are completely at the mercy of the whims of the marketplace. Your caring incense advisor, Elizabeth
